Epic Meal Time: dulce de leche delight
This dessert doesn’t really have a name, I learned how to make it in lower school when I was about 9 and it’s everyone’s favorite. People are always asking me to make it for BBQs or potlucks, it’s very easy to make so I’m fine with that.
Ingredients – go to the Hispanic section of your supermarket, this is where you’ll find these items. Giant Eagle in OH and Publix in FL have them.
- Arequipe (dulce de leche)
- Crema de leche – similar to heavy cream but not exactly the same
- Maria cookies – Maria is the brand, this time I didn’t find that one but this is the same kind
Give the can a good shake, then pour it in a bowl. Use a spatula to mix it until you remove all the clumps. Doing this first makes it easier to blend with the dulce de leche, if you don’t then removing the clumps after you add the dulce de leche will take a lot of mixing.
Now pour in the dulce de leche and mix well. You’ll notice the dulce de leche is very thick, the final product will be a lot better to work with.
Take a container and put down a layer of cookies.
Then pour a layer of the mixture, make sure it’s evenly spread.
Continue doing this until you run out of ingredients or the container is full.
Put it in the fridge for at least 6 hours, this will allow the cookies to absorb the mixture.
